We are currently seeking candidates for a half-time Physical Education teaching opportunity at Amherst Regional Middle School. This is an interim position for the spring 2025 semester.  The position requires an individual who can create a classroom environment that is welcoming, follows the school's mission and values, motivates students to cultivate physical fitness, social and emotional learning, discovers and develops students' talents in physical achievement through a variety of teaching models, and styles of activities.

All candidates must hold a MA Department of Education License in Physical Education License for this age group.

Highly qualified candidates possess the following:
-Masters Degree in Physical Education or Education and Bachelors in Physical Education
-Familiar with and implements teaching models such as Teaching Games for Understanding, Sport Education, PSI
-Develops and implements a variety of assessments to measure student growth physically and cognitively
- Knowledge & Experience with teaching Adapted Physical Education
-SEI Endorsement
-Strong positive, effective written and oral communication skills
-Strong Behavior Management Skills
-Deep understanding of the Multi-Tiered Support Systems
-Nurturing, emphatic, Culturally Competent
-Ability to design and implement effective positive behavioral supports and plans
-Ability to create and maintain an environment conducive to the student population; ability to make accommodations and modifications to support sensory, social, and emotional needs
-Ability to understand and respond to the perspectives displayed by the student population, helping them to understand their learning profile, learning to self-advocate, self-determine their vision and develop their talents and strengths
-Bilingual candidates (Spanish / English) are encouraged to apply.

Physical Requirement:
Ability to move all equipment in the gymnasium or other facilities for class
Sustained physical activity such as moderate to frequent exertion in body movements such as reaching, bending, twisting, standing, jogging, and other movements to demonstrate lessons in Physical Education.
