The Amherst-Pelham Regional School District is seeking well-qualified candidates for the position of Mathematics teacher at the Amherst-Pelham Regional Middle School. This is a permanent, full-time, school-year position. The successful candidate will have experience and/or training to teach Math 7, Math 8, and Algebra 1.
Candidates should:
Be well-versed in the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks
Be able to articulate how the Common Core Standards for Mathematical Practice have informed their instruction
Be familiar with and committed to providing low-floor, high-ceiling lessons to increase access to all students
Have a growth mindset about students’ ability to learn and do mathematics
Be committed to anti-racist teaching and willing to take part in district-supported, ongoing professional development
Understand and be committed to teaching and working with middle grade students
Be able to collaborate effectively with department-level, team-level, and interdisciplinary colleagues to organize, plan, and align curriculum.
Demonstrate enthusiasm and passion for both middle school students and teaching mathematics. Prior experience with teaching Desmos Math and/or Algebra is preferred, though not required
All applicants must have Massachusetts certification in 5-8 Mathematics as our middle school model includes looping grades 7-8. Bilingual and bi-cultural candidates are encouraged to apply.
